Get to know me

What city & state were you born in?

Ann Arbor, Michigan

What inspired you to get your cosmetology license?

I’ve always loved playing around with hair in high school & just knew it was something I wanted to pursue after graduation. Upon completing beauty school in Rochester Hills, Michigan, I started my career behind the chair pushing the boundaries of hair coloring, cutting & styling. A lot of my clients began getting engaged and asking me to style hair for their engagement photos, proms and so on! One thing lead to another, with continued training and experience in working with a wide variety of clients, I took on Bridal Hair Styling, as well, and have loved being a part of one of the most special moments in a persons life! It’ such an honor. My brides are truly the best.

What’s are a couple of your favorite Hair products?

Some of my all-time favorite’s would be the Kenra Volume Dry Burst 3 which works great on most hair types, when styling. I also have the Designme 3in1 Hairspray in my kit, it’s a super lightweight, layering hairspray perfect for working and finishing a style. I also love the Pravana Intense Therapy Leave-In conditioner for any hair type, it smells really good and doesn’t weigh your hair down.

What are one of your biggest accomplishments in your career?

Having my work be published in British Vogue Magazine was definitely a career goal for me! Vogue magazine was always the one that inspired me for fashion, beauty and culture.

Have you ever moved out of the state of Michigan?

Yes! I resided on the West coast for ten years, getting to enjoy the beautiful beaches and mountains of Orange County, California.

Most memorable experiences of being a Hair Stylist?

Some memorable moments would be styling, super model & Detroit native, Sydney Harper’s hair for a Bridal Cover shoot for . Along with all of the amazing commercial, print and photoshoot opportunities, I’ve been able to showcase my creativity throughout many projects. And of course, bridal hair styling for Weddings, one of THE most memorable days of a person’s life, & I get to be a part of it!

What is the best advise you have had?

We always have a choice - how to act, how to react, where to go, what to think.

How do you define Beauty?

I believe beauty can be portrayed in many different ways. I think how you see yourself and being yourself, are a couple of the truest form of beauty. Self-care, drink enough water, make healthy eating choices (most of the time that is haha), exercise and get enough rest!
